Farewell St. Joseph’s

As today comes to a close for my last day with the Middle School, I would like to thank the students, parents and community of St. Joseph’s – Hindmarsh for welcoming me over the past two years. I have enjoyed my time at Hindmarsh and have throughly relished working with the students in the Middle Years Band.

The decision to leave Hindmarsh to take up a permanent position at Whitefriars was a difficult one. Whilst being excited that I have achieved my goal of permanency within Catholic Education, it is a shame that I need to say goodbye to the Hindmarsh community to which I have been apart of for two years. I am leaving a school that I have really enjoyed being a part of, and I am very thankful for the experiences that I have had and the friendships I have made.

I will endeavour to keep in contact with the school, and I have already spoken with Mr. Cottrell and we will be looking at networking in the future particuarly in the area of Physical Education and Health.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Christmas and a positive and prosperous New Year.

Thanks again everyone, you have made my teaching at Hindmarsh a wonderful and rewarding experience.

Cheers,

Mr. Page

WOW! Did we sell …….

What a fantastic effort put in by all of our businesses. Each business made a profit – well done all. You can be proud of yourselves and the efforts that you have put in over the last couple of weeks. You are to be commended for giving up your recess and lunch times over the last 3 days.

As a group of businesses we have raised over $1000 which will be donated to charity. What a difference you will make in somebody’s life – especially over the Christmas and holiday period. We will talk early next week about how we distribute the money.

Once again – Well done. :)

And they’re selling …….

Today at recess time the students in the Middle Years opened for business.  They have been working hard over the last couple of weeks and it is now coming to fruition.

Already students have made over $100.  From this however they need to repay some loans that they have taken out as well as pay for leasing their “premises” and for advertising.

A great time was had by all and we are opening again at lunch and also tomorrow and Wednesday.

Week 5 – Term 4 (Where has the time gone?!?)

Well here we are at Week 5 of Term 4.  The time has just flown by.  We’ve had a busy couple of weeks.

Students have completed their stadiums and given oral presentations detailing their experiences, good and bad, and given valuable information about the type of stadium they created and why.  We will be posting some photos in the next couple of days and placing them on the stadium page.  We hope you visit and see some of the fantastic creations.  The students would also love it if you would take the time to leave a comment.

We are in the first week of our meetings for our Literature Circles.  The Year 6/7′s have shared with you their new front covers, predictions and blurbs.  We are beginning to share the activities.

Yesterday we began our Enterprise unit.  We were privileged to have 3 members of our community share with us their experiences in business.  We look forward to seeing what the student’s business plans will look like and what they will endeavour to sell.  We hope to share with you the students’ progress.

Literature Circles

We have been working on our Literature Circles – students have been writing predictions of what they individually think will happen in their chosen books.  They have redesigned their book covers and written possible new blurbs.  Go to our Literature Circle book pages and have a look.  Next week we will be having our first group meetings and we hope to share some of the findings with you.
